Career Seminar and Recruitment Fair for Youths At SOP Employability 101

On Saturday 11th of June, 2022, we hosted a career seminar and recruitment fair for youths in Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area, focusing on employment possibilities and the improvement of interview skills at the Crystal County Schools in Crystal Estate, Amuwo Odofin.

Alan & Grant, a recruitment firm, was the event’s principal recruitment exhibitor on the ground.

This effort is a comprehensive program for Amuwo Odofin youngsters. The purpose was twofold: to equip youngsters for career possibilities and to provide job opportunities to the community.

Mr. Tunde Adenuga, Family Head of the SOP initiative’s General Administration and Finance Departments, explained the program, saying, “This year we are taking the SOP initiative to another level entirely, and we want to make this a yearly event because we realized we have people in the community who don’t have jobs and some don’t have the skills to write a comprehensive CV or appear before an interviewer.” So we want to see how we can equip and teach them so that when they go out there, they can do well and be proud of themselves, rather than going and returning dissatisfied.

“We have realized that an idle hand is the Devil’s workshop, thus this is one of the methods to strengthen the society against all manner of vices.” He says.

Mrs. Olubunmi Damilare Ayeni, the Secretariat team’s leader, stated, “We recognized that a lot of individuals require that instruction on interview skills.” We also learnt that no matter how excellent you believe you are, there is always room for improvement.”

Beneficiaries of the program praised the idea.

“I learnt about life after school and how to generate work chances for oneself and how to go about it,” said Precious Toyo, a theatrical arts graduate. What to include in your CV and how to ace a job interview.”

“It was a beautiful experience,” said Anjorin Dolapo, a 400-level student studying public communication at the University of Ilorin. The facilitators talked to us, and I learned a lot, from CV writing to presenting skills, while applying for jobs and during interviews. It was outstanding.
