Oh yeah, we got the community dancing as we launched “Manual Feet” in April 2022.
The Arts department of the SOP Initiative hosted its first 3-Day Dance Workshop, tagged Manual Feet. From the 8th to the 10th of April, 2022, the event was held at the Community Hall, Festac Extension, Lagos.
We are pleased that it was a success; it intended to develop talents, recruit new youngsters into the SOP Initiative group, and encourage them to put their skills to good use, says Damilare Ayeni, the head of the Arts family.
Afro-dancing and open-style dancing were merged in the dance routines performed by the 16 participants who were carefully selected from the registrations, and the crew filmed a dance video to commemorate the successful completion of the routines.
This will continue for future monthly editions of the Manual Feet workshop, and we intend to add other aspects such as poetry and contests in the future, Damilare adds.
According to the group’s president, Ayeni Oluwaseun, dance cultivates humility, affirms Christ’s victory, and uplifts the spirit.
Psalm 149:3 says, “Let them honor his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp.”
