Another edition of the ‘life-changing’ gospel concert, Symphony of Praise (SOP 07) has been slated for this Sunday July 22, 2007 at The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Victory House, 24 Road Festac Town by 4pm.
With this year’s theme ‘GOD. GREAT GOD’, and the special focus on the ‘Displaced in the Society’, the TWF interdenominational mass choir is yet again set to make history. The president of SOP Team, Mr. Emmanuel Efunwoye explains, “Destitution has a great impact on the community and we cannot continue to ignore these people; they are our responsibility until they are empowered. Sometimes it is not due to laziness on their part, but extreme difficulties and challenges in life that have made them incapable of helping themselves.”
According to the Programme Director, Mr. Amos Omodunni, “Nigeria is a land flowing with milk and honey, we enjoy the sight of beautifully built houses yet many don’t have a roof over their heads. So this year’s edition is taking on a new light as it is a benefit concert, what we hope to achieve is the positive development of lives.”
Who are the ‘displaced in the society’? “We see them as human resource wasting away under bridges, in abandoned buildings, those roaming the streets in tattered clothes. Those whom Nigerians call ‘touts’, ‘area boys’, ‘beggars’ etc.” Efunwoye answers.
The plan for the goal’s achievement is divided into three stages, The QUICK-FIX, MID-TERM and LONG-TERM Plan. At the end of each stage, absorbed beneficiaries from the streets will be released back to rejoin the society, as a better person empowered economically and financially. A person ready to continue the reform process of lives to improve our nation”, Omodunni explains.
The vision was conceptualized in 2004 and with two (2) exemplary editions to its credit. The 2006 edition was dedicated towards campaigning against the stigmatization of HIV positive victims and creating awareness amongst youths.
Speaking with utmost confidence, Efunwoye remarks, “This is our third year running and we are still holding on to our vision, which is ‘reaching heaven with one voice’. We intend to achieve the aim of every Christian body, which is soul winning, plus edifying and unifying the body of Christ, and impacting our generation positively – All to be done through praise”.
The 2007 concert package includes special appearances by the gospel reggae maestro BUCHI, Storm Records budding star GT da GUITARMAN, a spectacular dance crew, etc. with an impressive role-call of important dignitaries in attendance. Efunwoye says, “People are invited from all walks of life to come enjoy themselves immensely – and at the same time, add to someone’s life because it’s a benefit concert”.
The best thing about this concert; It’s FREE of CHARGE!
